MOSCOW, May 28 (PRIME) -- The Magadan Region’s Governor Vladimir Pechyony and the republic of Yakutia’s Governor Yegor Borisov have separately asked President Vladimir Putin for resignation on their own volition, the Kremlin said in separate statements seen by PRIME on Monday.
Putin approved the requests and appointed Sergei Nosov, head of the administration of the city of Nizhny Tagil, as acting governor of the Magadan Region and Aisen Nikolayev, mayor of the city of Yakutsk, as acting head of Yakutia.
Pechyony had been the governor of the region for five years, while Borisov had been the head of the republic for eight years.
